Betting Glossary — Key Terms Explained

Asian Handicap
A form of betting common in Asian sportsbooks that eliminates the draw outcome by giving one team a virtual head start. Hugely popular for football (soccer) betting in the Philippines.
Over/Under (Totals)
A bet on whether the combined score of both teams will be over or under a number set by the bookmaker. Simple, popular, and available on virtually every sport including PBA basketball.
Odds Formats
Odds can be expressed in three main formats: Decimal (e.g., 2.50), Fractional (e.g., 3/2), or American (e.g., +150). Decimal odds are the most common in Philippine online betting platforms.
RTP (Return to Player)
The percentage of all wagered money a slot machine pays back to players over time. A slot with 96% RTP theoretically returns ₱96 for every ₱100 wagered over millions of spins. Higher is better.
House Edge
The mathematical advantage the casino has over the player in any game. For example, a 2% house edge means for every ₱100 bet, the casino expects to keep ₱2 long-term. Lower house edge = better for you.
Wagering Requirement
Also called rollover or playthrough. If a bonus has a 20x wagering requirement, you must bet 20 times the bonus amount before withdrawing winnings from it. Always read this in the bonus terms.
Live Dealer Casino
Casino games streamed live from a real studio with a human dealer running the table. You place bets via your screen but interact with a real person dealing cards or spinning the wheel in real time.
Slot Volatility
Describes how often and how much a slot pays out. Low volatility = frequent small wins. High volatility = rare but large wins. Choose based on your bankroll size and risk tolerance.
Progressive Jackpot
A jackpot that grows over time as players across the network contribute a small percentage of every bet to the prize pool. Games like Mega Moolah can reach millions of pesos before hitting.
Cashback
A promotion that returns a percentage of your net losses over a period (daily, weekly, or monthly). For example, 10% cashback on losses means if you lose ₱1,000, you get ₱100 back.
In-Play Betting
Also called live betting — placing bets on a game while it is still in progress. Odds change in real time based on what's happening, making it fast-paced and exciting, especially for basketball and football.
KYC (Know Your Customer)
The identity verification process required by licensed casinos before allowing withdrawals. Required by Philippine gaming regulations. Involves submitting a government ID, proof of address, and a selfie.
